WE AREBendigo Malayalee Association

The Bendigo Malayalee Association was formed in 2010 to reminisce and foster the cultural heritage of our homeland, Kerala. Our community has since grown and spread over to Bendigo in the last 12 years. Today, we are about 250 families with more than 650 members in Bendigo. The association is registered as Corporation with Consumer Affairs, Victoria, in 2016. Majority of our community members work in the Public Health Service sector and contribute to the Bendigo society.

Our Purpose

The purpose of the association is to promote, preserve and nurture the special culture and linguistic heritage of the Malayalam speaking people, to foster friendship among the Malayalee’s in Bendigo and other parts of Australia.

Our Objectives

  • To foster friendship and unity among the Bendigo Malayalee Community.
  • To help the integration of our community members into the Bendigo regional culture, conduct activities that foster this integration.
  • To educate our young people the rich culture, language and help them to grow as responsible citizens.
  • To hold cultural functions and promote solidarity with other cultural organizations in Australia.
  • To promote family values among the members and Society at large.
  • To educate, empower the community on the impacts of family violence, drug and alcohol dependence.
  • To promote and partake in the development programs for the welfare and wellbeing of our local community.
  • To promote, practice and support health education among our community members.
  • To support and guide the settlement of the new immigrants from Kerala to Bendigo.
  • To promote sports and cultural activities among the members.
